Where the Story Began
Hi there, I'm John. I'm glad you found your way here. I opened these doors back in 1978, just a young man with a workbench, a few worn tools, and a memory of my father's old cap hanging by the door. I never set out to build something that would last this long. I just wanted to make something honest, something a man could wear and be proud of. Every cap I've made since has carried a little piece of that memory with it.
Every Cap Tells My Story
Those early years were hard, but they were mine. I taught myself by making mistakes, ripping out stitches, starting over more times than I can count. Some caps came out crooked. Some didn't survive the first wash. But slowly, my hands learned what my mind couldn't teach them.
I still remember the first time a man walked out wearing one of my caps and looked in the mirror like he saw someone he was proud to be. That feeling never left me. I never wanted to make something trendy. I wanted to make something a man could wear for years and pass down if he had to. Every cap I've made since carries a little piece of that first moment, and a little piece of me.
One Last Thread
I won't pretend this is easy for me. My hands aren't what they used to be, and some mornings it takes me longer just to open the shop. But every time that door creaks open, I think of all the faces that walked through it over the years, the fathers, the sons, the ones who came back just to say a cap I made was still holding up. I carry every one of them with me.
This is the last collection I'll ever make. When I sit down to cut and stitch these final caps, I feel every year I've spent at this bench. The smell of the cloth, the sound of the old machine humming late at night, it's all in here somewhere. If one of these caps finds its way to you, I hope you wear it well. And I hope, in some small way, it carries a piece of me with you.
